<3SOR III CCCB
Light design for CCCB Museum
For the third and last edition of <3OR live music cycle at the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona—curated by Meritxell de Soto to celebrate Barcelona’s contemporary electronic scene—XAARCHIVE developed a comprehensive spatial proposal integrating a responsive sculpture, stage design, and a building-wide lighting strategy into a single architectural system.
Conceived as an immersive environment rather than a scenographic backdrop, the intervention combined a central responsive light sculpture with a lateral independent stage. The sculpture operated as an atmospheric instrument: reacting in real time to sonic frequencies and amplitude, it translated sound into gradients of light and movement. Its behavior established a fluctuating visual tempo that expanded beyond the DJ booth, activating the entire room as a continuous field.
Beyond the main hall, the project extended throughout the building. We developed the lighting design for the lobby and circulation areas, transforming transitional spaces into part of the experiential narrative. The intervention redefined the atmosphere of the entire venue, ensuring that the encounter with the event began at the entrance and unfolded seamlessly across every architectural layer.
In this final chapter of <3OR, architecture was approached as a responsive organism at the scale of the building—an integrated system capable of sensing, amplifying, and redistributing cultural energy in real time.
